About The Black Hawk Trail Race
The Black Hawk Trail Race in Golden, Colorado on July 16th will be the perfect half marathon for anyone who loves incredible mountain views and a challenging course. The race starts at the historic Coors Brewery with beautiful views of Lookout Mountain before heading east along Clear Creek to its junction with Hwy 6. From there, it continues north through North Table Mountain Park and up to Mount Galbraith Open Space Park before descending back down into downtown Golden.
The route is moderately hilly but not overly difficult and offers runners some great scenery on their way to the finish line. There are plenty of places along the route where you can take in stunning views of the Front Range and nearby cities like Denver, Boulder, Loveland, and Longmont. With an elevation gain/loss around 1,400 feet throughout the course, there’s enough climbing to give runners a good challenge without feeling overwhelming or too daunting.
During this time of year in Colorado you can expect sunny skies with temperatures ranging from mid-50s (Fahrenheit) early morning at higher elevations to 80s by noon near sea level. While most of your run will be fairly shaded due to trees lining much of the route, bring sunscreen just in case! The crowds tend not to be too large as this event isn’t one that draws major attention outside locals but that also means more room for you on either side while running!
The Black Hawk Trail Race offers something special by having medals designed after old mining tools used during Colorado’s gold rush days – making them a unique keepsake for any runner looking for something different than generic trophies from other marathons they may have participated in previously! All finishers receive these custom made medals so everyone has something unique that commemorates completing this awesome half marathon in Golden!
