About The Finger Lakes Half Marathon

The Finger Lakes Half Marathon in Montour Falls, New York is an excellent race for runners of all levels. Held annually on the 23rd of September, the half marathon has a beautiful route that winds through some of the most picturesque scenery in the area. The course begins at Seneca Lake State Park and continues along Watkins Glen Gorge as it passes by breathtaking waterfalls and lush woodlands. It then turns onto Route 14 where runners will be treated to views of pastoral farmland before heading towards downtown Montour Falls and finishing near Shequaga Falls.

The typical weather conditions on race day are generally mild with temperatures usually ranging from 50-70 degrees Fahrenheit (10-21 Celsius). This makes it ideal for running as there’s not too much heat or humidity, meaning you can push yourself further than normal without feeling overly fatigued. The crowd support is also fantastic; lots of local residents come out to cheer on participants as they make their way around the course – this helps keep motivation high throughout your run!

In addition to being one of the most scenic races in Upstate New York, there’s something special about this event that sets it apart from other half marathons – each participant gets a unique finisher’s medal made from locally sourced materials such as glass and leather produced by nearby artisans. As well as being a great keepsake item, these medals serve both recognition for completing the race and appreciation for supporting local businesses!

Overall, I would highly recommend taking part in Finger Lakes Half Marathon if you’re looking for an enjoyable yet challenging running experience surrounded by some truly stunning scenery – plus don’t forget about those awesome medals!
