About The Harpers Ferry Half Marathon

The Harpers Ferry Half Marathon is a wonderful opportunity for runners to experience the beauty of West Virginia. The race takes place in May, and the weather at that time of year is usually mild and sunny with temperatures ranging from 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect for running.

The course starts in historic Harpers Ferry, a town steeped in history with buildings dating back to the Civil War era. Runners will pass by cobblestone streets as they make their way out of town and into the countryside. From there, they’ll be treated to some beautiful views of rolling hills, vibrant forests and meandering rivers all around them; it’s like a living postcard! Additionally, the trail follows along the Appalachian Trail so you can bet there will be plenty of awe-inspiring scenery along your journey.

The crowds are very supportive throughout this half marathon race; people come out to cheer on runners or even join them for part of their run if they want! There are also plenty of volunteers who help direct traffic during this event which adds an extra layer safety for everyone involved. Plus, spectators often set up water stations along parts of the route providing more hydration opportunities than usual during this event .

What makes this half marathon especially unique is its location near numerous historical sites such as Antietam National Battlefield Park and Harper’s Ferry itself (where John Brown led his 1859 raid). As such, you can expect lots cultural lessons while you’re running too! All in all, if you’re looking for an unforgettable experience filled with breathtaking views then look no further than the Harpers Ferry Half Marathon – it’s one race that won’t leave you disappointed!
