About The Howey in the Hills 5K, 10K & Half Marathon
The Howey in the Hills 5K, 10K & Half Marathon is a great race for runners of all levels. It takes place on 18 February, 2023 in the beautiful town of Howey, Indiana located just south of Indianapolis. The half marathon route begins at the historic center of town and winds through rolling hills and around a lake before returning to the start/finish line.
The scenery along this course is breathtaking! You’ll be running past lush green fields dotted with wildflowers and towering trees that stretch up towards the sky. As you make your way around Lake Howey, you get spectacular views of its crystal-clear waters surrounded by dramatic bluffs. And if you’re lucky enough to catch an early morning sunrise over these stunning landscapes – it will surely take your breath away!
As far as typical weather conditions are concerned, February can bring some cold temperatures but usually warm up nicely by mid-morning so it can make for pleasant running conditions throughout most of the race. However, rain or snow is possible during this time so come prepared with appropriate clothing just in case!
When it comes to crowds on race day, there will definitely be plenty of spectators cheering you on from start to finish – mostly comprised of friends and family members who have come out to support their loved ones participating in this event. There may also be some locals interested in watching what goes down at such a beloved annual community event like this one!
Finally, something special about this half marathon is that every participant receives a commemorative medal upon crossing the finish line as well as access to post-race refreshments (which typically include fruit snacks and drinks). So even though racing 13 miles isn’t always easy – everyone will certainly feel rewarded once they complete their journey across those beautiful rolling hills!
