About The Montezuma Festival of Races

The Montezuma Festival of Races is an exciting event for runners, held annually in Savannah, New York. This year’s half marathon takes place on June 4th and promises to be a memorable experience with its incredible route and charming atmosphere.

The course itself covers the scenic landscape of the area, starting at the historic Shongo Pavilion before winding through rolling hills and quaint small towns. Runners will pass along lakeshores, forests and farmlands as they make their way around the 13-mile route – making it one of upstate New York’s most beautiful races! The terrain is mainly flat which makes it suitable for all levels of runner – from beginner to advanced.

As far as weather goes, temperatures in June are usually comfortable with highs between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day; however there may be some periods of rain so it’s important to bring appropriate clothing just in case! Luckily though this race provides plenty enough shelter along its route so that you can stay dry if needed.

The crowds at this race are very supportive and encouraging – friends, family members and volunteers alike come out every year to cheer on runners as they complete their challenge! There’s also live music playing throughout much of the course so you won’t ever get bored or lack motivation while running!

In addition to being an incredibly scenic race that draws spectators from near and far each year, what really sets this half marathon apart is its unique finish line celebration: after crossing over a bridge made entirely out of flags representing countries across America (and beyond!), participants are treated to free food & drinks plus lots more fun activities like face painting & karaoke – definitely something special that you don’t see every day!

Overall I would highly recommend registering for this fantastic half marathon – especially since 2020 was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions – because it offers such a great combination of scenery & atmosphere; not only will you get fit but have loads fun doing it too!
