About The Run the Alamo
Run the Alamo is an exciting half marathon race that takes place in San Antonio, Texas on 5 March, 2023. The 13.1-mile course winds its way through the historic city streets and iconic sites of downtown San Antonio and along the River Walk. Runners can expect to take in breathtaking views of the skyline, historic buildings, lush parks and nature trails throughout their journey.
The start line will be located near HemisFair Park and runners will make their way through downtown before turning onto Commerce Street where they’ll pass by La Villita Historic District full of colorful shops and restaurants. After winding around Alamodome Plaza, participants will then head north along St Mary’s Street before making a loop around Alamo Plaza itself with its famous chapel at center stage. Runners will then cross over Cesar Chavez Boulevard back onto Commerce street for a second lap before heading south towards Mission Reach Trail taking them alongside beautiful riverside paths surrounded by lush greenery as well as 19th century missions built by Spanish settlers centuries ago. Finally crossing into Roosevelt Park for one last lap past Brackenridge Park Golf Course bringing them to the finish line outside Municipal Auditorium with cheering crowds waiting to greet them!
March weather in San Antonio usually sees temperatures ranging from highs of 70°F (21°C) during the day down to lows of 45°F (7°C) overnight but no matter what time you start your race it should be warm enough for a comfortable run while still being cool enough not to tire too quickly so pacing yourself is key! It’s also worth noting that due to this event’s popularity there are likely going to be quite large crowds cheering you on throughout your journey which makes it even more enjoyable – something special about this particular half marathon is definitely all the support you’ll get from strangers!
