About The Turkey Trot

The Turkey Trot Half Marathon, held on November 23, 2023, in Gainesville, GA, is the perfect event for both casual and serious runners alike. As part of a long-standing tradition, this year marks the 14th edition of the Turkey Trot, which offers not only a Half Marathon but also a 5K and 10K race. The event prides itself on being a fun-filled experience for the entire family, providing options for those who prefer a short distance, a leisurely Thanksgiving morning stroll, or a challenging hilly course before indulging in a hearty Thanksgiving dinner.

Participants of the Turkey Trot Half Marathon will not only get to test their running prowess but will also receive a special hoodie that can conveniently convert into a backpack. To ensure securing this unique souvenir, runners must sign up by November 13th. Additionally, this year will see the introduction of digital timing, enabling fast and immediate posting of race results.

The race begins at 8:00 am at the Riverside Military Academy track area, with package pickup available on Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and on race morning starting at 7:00 am. The Half Marathon course presents a challenge with several hills along the way, while the 5K follows an out and back loop, and the 10K repeats the 5K course twice.

Gainesville, GA, the host city for the Turkey Trot, offers a rich and vibrant atmosphere. Known as the “Poultry Capital of the World,” Gainesville celebrates its agricultural roots and is home to numerous poultry processing plants.
