About The Willamette Valley Marathon

The Willamette Valley Marathon, held in Salem Oregon on September 17th 2023, is a great race for those looking to challenge themselves and get a glimpse of the stunning Oregon scenery. The route takes runners through rural farmland, rolling hills and wooded areas with spectacular views of Mount Hood in the distance.

The half-marathon course starts off at Wallace Marine Park before winding its way south along River Road towards Gervais Street Bridge. From there you’ll be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the Willamette River as you make your way south and then east past Minto Brown Island Park. You’ll also pass by two wildlife preserves that offer an opportunity for some wildlife viewing during your run! As you cross the finish line at Salem’s historic Deepwood Estate Gardens, it will feel like all your hard work has paid off!

September is typically mild in Salem with temperatures ranging from 50-70 degrees Fahrenheit (10-21 Celsius) making it ideal weather for running. Many runners choose this time because they can avoid both extreme heat and cold while still having plenty of daylight to complete their race. Typically there are lots of spectators cheering racers on throughout the course so you won’t have to worry about feeling isolated or unsupported during your run!

What makes this half marathon unique is that it allows runners to experience a wide range of terrain throughout Oregon’s countryside including riverside trails, rolling hillsides and even mountain vistas – all within just 13 miles! Plus, unlike many other races where participants must wait until after finishing their event to collect awards or prizes; here winners receive special commemorative medals right away upon crossing the finish line!

Overall, if you’re looking for an enjoyable yet challenging running experience that offers beautiful scenery plus plenty of crowd support; then look no further than the Willamette Valley Marathon which should not be missed come September 17th 2023!
