The Experience
Midnight Sun Block Party Presented by Toughest Alive Come join us June 27–28 for the Midnight Sun Block Party — a free community event built around movement, fun, and bringing people together. This is designed to be extremely welcoming and beginner friendly with a community aid station on the 1.2 mile loop course, under the midnight sun. Whether you're chasing 100 miles, 50 miles, trying your first ruck, attempting to do a marathon for the first time with no embarrassment--getting out for a few miles with friends, or simply wanting to see how far you can go, this event is for you. Spend the whole weekend with us or stop by for an hour. Walk, run, ruck, laugh, hang out at the aid station, meet new people, and make some miles. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. You're welcome any time, for any distance. Alongside the community event, there will also be a few big personal challenges happening: Hadassah ("Dossie") will be attempting to set a new benchmark in her pursuit of a 100-mile performance at just 12 years old. Andrew will be attempting to set a high standard for the upcoming Toughest Alive Challenge.
But this weekend isn't about elite performances — it's about community. Whether you cover 1 mile or 100 miles, you belong here. Distance & Start Times The Midnight Sun Block Party officially kicks off at midnight Friday night / Saturday morning and continues through the weekend. Come out and challenge yourself with 100 miles, 50 miles, or simply see how far you can go.There are no minimums and no pressure — whether you cover 1 mile or 100 miles, you're part of the event. The only participants who definitely need to start at midnight are those planning to use the full 48-hour window, since the clock for the weekend ends at midnight Sunday night. Everyone else is welcome to start whenever works best for them. Want to jump in at midnight and experience Alaska's midnight sun vibes? Awesome. Prefer to roll in Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, or stop by for a few hours? That's great too. This weekend is designed to be flexible. Show up, find your pace, take breaks, hang out, and enjoy the miles however you want to experience them. Community Aid Station Since this is a free event, we ask participants to help build the community atmosphere by bringing snacks or drinks to share. Gels, pickles, fruit, electrolyte drinks, chips, candy, and other aid station favorites are encouraged! Support the Party! If you'd like to help make the event a success, optional Aid Station Fund donations are welcome, and you can also support future free community events by purchasing a Midnight Sun Block Party event shirt during registration. Come Stay Awhile: Rest, recover, and make yourself at home throughout the weekend. Participants are welcome to set up a small tent in designated parking lot areas, bring a tailgate setup, use their pickup truck as a basecamp, or rest and nap in their vehicle as needed. Whether you're out for a few miles or pushing toward a big goal, pace yourself and take care of yourself along the way. Dress Code: To help keep the event organized, family-friendly, and assist with athlete identification and loop tracking, all participants are required to wear a shirt throughout the event. Grab your family, grab your friends, and come see how far you can go. Any and all pacers welcome at any time, any distance! Just please have them register here (so they sign the waiver electronically and save trees). Virtual Friends & Community Miles 🌎 Can't make it in person? We’d love to have people join us virtually too. Invite friends and family to sign up from wherever they are and make some miles alongside the event. Whether they run, ruck, or walk around their neighborhood, local trails, treadmill, or favorite route, they can still be part of the weekend. Want to pace someone virtually? Pick a participant, jump in from your location, and match a few miles with them from wherever you are. Sometimes knowing someone else is out there moving with you makes a big difference. We also encourage anyone who wants to livestream parts of their journey and tag the Facebook event. Share your miles, your crew, your struggles, your wins, and help others feel like they’re right there with us. Let’s turn this into one big community weekend. Volunteers Wanted ❤️ We would LOVE volunteers to come be part of the weekend and help make this event something special. You do not need to run, ruck, or walk to be a huge part of the experience. A few ways to help: 1. Keep the aid station popping and the music bumping 🎵 Help keep snacks and drinks stocked, encourage athletes, keep good energy flowing, and help create an atmosphere people want to hang around. 2. Help with mileage and loop tracking 📋 A simple grid-tracking system will be used, but volunteers can help participants keep track of their miles and progress throughout the weekend. Trust us — after enough miles, people start forgetting what lap they're on. Volunteers will become the real MVPs of the weekend and will be hugely loved and appreciated by everyone out there making miles happen. See you all at the party!
