The Experience
The Citrus Heritage Run, now in its 12th edition, draws around 700 runners from a dozen states, with nearly a third returning each year. The course winds through the California Citrus State Historic Park, where the air is thick with the scent of orange blossoms and sweet citrus—a sensory signature you won't find anywhere else. Runners take in views of the surrounding mountain ranges as they pass through historic groves that have defined the region for generations.
The half marathon is a flat, road course, making it a strong option for a PR or a Boston qualifier (USATF certified). While the atmosphere is festive with live bands along the route, the real party starts at the finish line. The event has sold out in its most recent edition, a testament to its growing reputation among Southern California runners.
At the finish, runners are greeted with freshly squeezed orange juice from a local grove, warm food, celebratory beer, and hand-crafted mimosas—all accompanied by a live band. The high-quality tech long-sleeve tee and finisher medal round out a well-produced event that feels both intimate and celebratory. For those seeking a uniquely scenic and fragrant half-marathon experience, the Citrus Heritage Run delivers.
