The Experience

The Cloverdale Vineyard Races, now in its 14th year, draws about 120 runners to Sonoma County wine country for a morning of rolling hills and country roads. Starting and finishing at the Cloverdale Municipal Airport, the course winds through vineyards and back roads, offering a scenic and challenging tour of the region. The small field (around 94 finishers in the most recent edition) and low-key atmosphere make it a favorite for locals and a hidden gem for visitors.

About one in five runners return year after year, and participants come from half a dozen states. All proceeds support the Kiwanis Club’s literacy and scholarship programs, which have put tens of thousands of books into kids’ hands. The finish line at the airport is a simple, welcoming affair, with post-race the real reward — knowing your run helped the community.

Race-day weather typically ranges from the low 50s to high 70s with low rain, ideal for running. The rolling hills provide both a challenge and a vantage point over the vineyards. While not a PR course, it’s a lovely way to experience wine country on foot.

Race-provided description

``1

The Cloverdale Kiwanis Vineyard Races would like to thank Gallo Family Vineyards for many years of beautiful runs.  We will miss your rolling (sometimes painfully continuous) hills.  The 2026 race will take place on the country back roads of Cloverdale with the start and finish line at the Cloverdale Municipal Airport. Our team is exploring new vineyard locations for a 2027 Spring Run.   Special thanks go out to the running community, which has made it possible for us to put tens of thousands of books into kids' hands, fund scholarships and healthy snack programs, and fulfill the wishes of our community's teachers and librarians.

All proceeds support the charitable programs of the Kiwanis Club of Cloverdale Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
