The Experience
Start your year with a bang on the trails of Griffith Park. This low-key half marathon draws about 190 runners, many from the local area and a handful from across four states. With a 15% repeat rate, it's a quiet favorite for those seeking a scenic, challenging course without the crush of a mega-race.
The course is roughly 90% trail, winding through the park's rugged terrain. After a start at Shane's Inspiration, runners tackle the Upper Old Zoo Trail and Bill Eckert Trail, where hills reward with sweeping views. A downhill asphalt section follows, then rolling hills on 'Tetris' before a fast, flat trail finish. Despite the official elevation data showing flat, the description confirms real undulations—so expect a rolling, honest effort.
The vibe is intimate and community-driven, with a T-shirt for all finishers. While the field is small, the energy is genuine—perfect for a New Year's resolution run. If you want a low-key, scenic trail challenge in the heart of LA, this is your race.
