The Experience

Still full from Thanksgiving? The Mash & Dash Half Marathon at Alamitos Beach offers a no-pressure morning of coastal miles and holiday cheer. With a median field of about 54 runners from roughly six states, this intimate event keeps the festive vibe alive while you burn off leftover pie.

The course is a flat, out-and-back route along the shoreline—perfect for a relaxed cruise or a fast finish. Starting at 780 E Shoreline Drive, the path is entirely paved and exposed to the ocean air, with mild temperatures averaging 50–68°F. Runners can also choose the 5K, 10K, or 10-miler, all sharing the same straightforward route.

This race is all about laughter and moving at your own pace. The 3-hour-20-minute cutoff for the half marathon is generous, and early start is available upon request. Post-race, you'll find easy parking ($2/hour) and a store discount at Sports Basement. It's a low-key, community-driven event that welcomes beginners and locals alike.
