The Experience
Start your race at Alamitos Beach, where the Pacific breeze greets a small field of about 65 runners. The course runs along the beach path—a flat, paved route that hugs the shoreline, offering unobstructed views of the ocean. The half marathon combines laps of a 5-mile out-and-back with a 5k loop, keeping things simple and fast.
The atmosphere is low-key and community-driven. With runners from roughly six states, this is a local favorite rather than a mass-participation event. The 3-hour-20-minute time limit is generous, making it welcoming for first-timers aiming for a flat PR course. Water stations are likely along the route, and the finish line area offers spectator space without the crowds of larger races.
Though still in its early years (first edition in 2025), the Night of the Living Runners Half Marathon delivers a straightforward, no-frills experience on a certified flat course. If you're looking for a small, coastal half with easy logistics and a Halloween-suggestive name, this is it.
