The Experience

The Redding Breakfast Lions Turtle Bay Run is a well-established half marathon that draws participants from across the country. First run in 2002, this event is now in its 20th year, testament to its enduring appeal. Runners will experience a unique course that winds along the Sacramento River, crossing iconic structures like the Sundial Bridge, Ribbon Bridge, and Diestelhorst Bridge.

The certified course offers a fast, flat profile, making it a prime location for setting personal bests. Participants will navigate paved paths through parkland, with a short out-and-back section on the Middle Creek trail. The race also features 10K and 2-mile options, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere. Electronic timing with bib tracking adds to the modern race-day experience.

Race-provided description

Runners in this years  half marathon  will run along the Sacramento River and will be crossing three bridges: the Sundial Bridge, the Ribbon Bridge and the Diestelhorst Bridge. The runners will start out crossing the Turtle Bay Sundial Bridge, and go north on paved paths in park surroundings most of the way, until they reach the Ribbon Bridge where they cross the Sacramento River and go south until they reach Middle Creek trail, which is an out and back (2 miles), with a return to the River Trail. Once back on the River Trail the runners cross back on the Diestelhorst Bridge to the north side of the river. The runners then continue back to the Sundial Bridge where they cross back to the south side and the Start / Finish. In addition to the half marathon there is a 10 K, which also goes along the Sacramento River, just less distance; and a 2 mile run / walk for younger and older, who do not want the longer distances. Having the multiple distance options makes it a very family friendly event. The half marathon and the 10 K have been certified with the American Track and Field Association. For those of you who need a certified distance, this is another good reason to run this particular race. A couple of years back we added electronic timing, through individual tracking on each runner's race bib.  Since everybody liked it, this will continue for all runners at any distance. This year's race will maintain acknowledgement of  age division winners in 5 year increments starting at “under 15 years of age” . For the two mile run there will be three additional divisions starting at 5 years and under. If you are a sponsor of the race you will get one free entry into the division of your choice. If you would like to become a sponsor please complete a sponsor form which can be found on our website at https://reddingbreakfastlionsclub.com/events-2/turtle-bay-run/ Swag bag and packet pick up will be at Fleet Feet, 1376 Hilltop Drive , Redding California, 96003 on Saturday October 3rd from 12 until 2 pm, or at the start / finish area on October 4th from 7:00 am until 8:30 am.
