The Experience
The Beulah Challenge, first run in 1996, invites runners to experience the crisp mountain air of Colorado's historic Beulah Valley. This event, set near the small community of Beulah in the Wet Mountains, offers a half-marathon that winds through the iconic Pueblo Mountain Park on hiking trails, providing a scenic escape into nature.
All races start and finish at the local school, with the half-marathon course designed for a 3.5-hour completion time, welcoming runners, joggers, and walkers alike. The event is permitted by the town and monitored by race marshals and the Beulah Fire Department, ensuring runner safety on the course. Participants also have the option to join the Over It SOCO Race Series, which includes the Beulah Challenge half-marathon alongside other races in the region.
Race-provided description
RACE START TIMES: 1/2 Marathon - 8:00 a.m.10K - 9:00 a.m.5K - 9:15 a.m. The Beulah Challenge, which started in 1996, is a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon run near Beulah, a small southern Colorado community located in the spectacular Beulah Valley nestled in the Wet Mountains. Start and finish for all races is at the school, 8734 School House Ln, Beulah, CO 81023. The 5K and 10K courses take you around the scenic gravel and paved roads of Beulah. The half-marathon course runs through the Beulah Valley and the iconic Pueblo Mountain Park on hiking trails. Run the Beulah Challenge and enjoy fresh mountain air in this beautiful historic area! Runners 17 years old and younger may register for the 5K or 10K at the discounted price of $15. Half-marathoners may want to consider running the Over It SOCO Race Series, which consists of the Beulah Challenge half-marathon, the Rim to Rim Royal Gorge half-marathon, and the Rock Canyon half marathon. Click here for more information. Half Marathon Time Limit: 3 1/2 Hours Runners, joggers and walkers are all welcomed to participate. We applaud all those who set out to complete the Half Marathon distance, regardless of the pace. The race is permitted through the town of Beulah and we use race marshals and Beulah Fire Department to monitor traffic throughout the race to keep the runners safe. This is a pace of 16:00 minutes per mile for the half marathon. For your own safety, we strongly discourage you from participating in this event if you cannot maintain a pace of 16:00 minutes per mile as all course support shuts down based on this pace. If participants choose to continue running after the time limit, they do so at their own risk and, while on any roadway, will move to the left side facing oncoming traffic and obey all traffic laws along the course. *Finisher medallions will be awarded only to those who finish within the official time span.
