The Experience
The Colorado Springs Marathon, now in its 13th year, invites runners to a scenic loop through the heart of the city. Starting and finishing at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum on Vermijo, the course winds through America the Beautiful Park and Monument Valley Park via the Greenway and Santa Fe trails.
The ~15-foot wide Greenway Trail features a mix of surfaces, beginning with cement for the first mile, transitioning to hard-pack pea gravel, and finally a paved surface. This varied terrain offers a unique running experience, with the course returning the same way to the finish line.
With a median field size of around 1004 finishers and growing, the event draws participants from approximately 39 states. While the repeat-runner rate is around 16%, the race provides a welcoming atmosphere for both seasoned athletes and newcomers looking to tackle distances from a 5K to a full marathon.
