Pioneer Prairie Dog Half, 10k & 5k

The Pioneer Prairie Dog Half Marathon, first run in 2013 and now in its 13th edition, invites runners to a crisp autumn morning escape. This event, which also includes 10k and 5k distances, is designed as a mental health break from the weekly grind, offering a chance to race in the open air.

The course is noted for being very flat, with minimal elevation change, making it a forgiving route for participants. A unique aspect of the race is the opportunity to see prairie dogs emerge from their burrows along the path, adding a touch of local wildlife to the scenery.

With a median field size of around 130 finishers, the atmosphere leans towards a more low-key, relaxed event rather than a high-energy competition.
