The Experience
The Platte River Half-Marathon, now in its 19th year, draws runners from about 23 states to Littleton, Colorado, for a well-organized event with a steady field size of around 641 finishers. A quarter of participants return, a testament to the race's appeal.
The course is predominantly a paved out-and-back along the scenic Platte River Trail, featuring a slight downhill on the outbound leg and a gentle incline returning, with a brief uphill over an overpass near the finish. This profile, combined with minimal elevation change, makes it a potentially fast course for setting personal bests.
Post-race festivities are a highlight, with an epic party at the adjacent Breckenridge Brewery, complete with food, vendors, live music, and beer. The event also supports Salute Colorado, adding a charitable element to the day's adrenaline-pumping running and fun.
