The Experience
First run in 1997, the Fairfield Road Races have grown into a staple on Connecticut's running calendar. Drawing over 2,400 finishers from some 31 states, this half-marathon has built a loyal following—nearly 30% of runners return year after year. The field is competitive, with typical winning times around 1:06, yet the median finish suggests a welcoming environment for a wide range of abilities.
The race-day vibe is rooted in local community support, with spectators lining the streets of Fairfield. Recent June weather averages 58–75°F, making for generally favorable conditions. At the finish, runners are greeted with post-race festivities that cap off a well-organized morning. Though the course itself remains understated, the consistent growth and high repeat rate speak to an event that gets the fundamentals right—a reliable, fast half worth traveling for.
