In its 14th year, Barney’s Run for Warriors is more than a half-marathon—it’s a mission to rescue two lives: a veteran and a dog. Proceeds fund service dogs for veterans through K9’s for Warriors, with 95% of dogs rescued from high-kill shelters. The race offers USATF-certified courses on nearly flat, paved roads through Albany neighborhoods.
The 13.1-mile course is well-marked and fast, with plenty of water stations and pit stops. Cash prizes go to overall winners, and finishers receive medals and tech t-shirts. Runners can even bring their dogs for the 1-mile, 5K, or 10K, making it a uniquely welcoming event for four-legged friends.
With a community-driven spirit and a cause that resonates deeply, this race draws a dedicated local crowd. The flat terrain and USATF certification make it a great choice for first-timers or those chasing a PR, while the charity focus gives every mile purpose.
Race-provided description
14th Annual Barney's Run for Warriors RESCUE TWO LIVES- a veteran and a dog! We are proud supporters of K9’s for Warriors based in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Proceeds from our race purchase a highly trained service dog for an area veteran. Ninety five percent of the dogs trained by K9’s are rescued from shelters with high kill rates. The veterans that graduate from the K9’s for Warriors program are able to resume a more normal life. Our 13.1, 10 k , and 5 k races are USATF certified. CASH PRIZE FOR OVERALL FEMALE AND MALE IN THE 1/2 MARATHON , 10K and 5K!!!!! Remember you can bring your dog to run with you on the 1mile, 5K or the 10K. Enjoy running on our nearly flat, paved, and well marked courses through Albany neighborhoods. We have plenty of water stations, pit stops, great t-shirts and swag bags. Help stop the 22 daily suicides of our military veterans and honor them with a lifesaving service dog. Give them both a new leash on life. T-Shirts registration Deadline is: November 5th! T-Shirts are a cotton/poly blend so please size up!!! Shirt Sizes are: YM,YL , YXL and Adult: S,M,L, XL, XXL and XXXL, and 4XL.
Awards: Medals given to the 10K & 5K Runners, Male & Female. Finishing Medals for 13.1 & 1 Mile. Medals given to the Top Three Male & Female Finishers in 9 Age Groups for the 10K & 5K. Age Groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and above
Best American Spirit School Award will be given to the school with most participants in the 13.1, 10K, 5K, & 1 Mile. Packet pickup will be Friday, November 13th- Location to be determined Also you can pickup on Race day from 7:45- 8:45 a.m. behind Phoebe Northwest located at 2336 Dawson Rd. on the corner of Watergate Ln. & Lake Park Dr.
On Race Day: Registration will be from 7:45 a.m.- 8:45 a.m. We recommend using the QR Code to register and paying by a credit card/debit so registration is not held up. Thanks in advance from the Barney's Crew:) 1/2 Marathon starts at 8:30 A.M. 10K & 5K start at 8:45 A.M. 1 Mile start at 9:00 A.M.
