The Experience

The Silver Comet Half Marathon, first run in 2001 and now in its 25th year, is a popular choice for runners seeking a fast, flat course. This USATF-certified event takes place entirely on the Silver Comet Trail, a paved path known for its scenic beauty and minimal elevation change.

With a median field size of around 187 finishers and growing, the race attracts runners from approximately 7 states. The course is designed for speed, with a net drop and zero start/finish separation, making it a prime location for personal bests and Boston Qualifier attempts for the full marathon. Runners can expect typical race-day temperatures between 49-65°F.

While the repeat-runner loyalty is modest at about 4%, the event's straightforward, efficient nature appeals to both first-timers and competitive athletes looking for a well-organized race. The giveaway includes a T-shirt, and the event is held on the last Saturday of October.
