2027 Dam to DSM

Now in its 47th year, the Dam to DSM half marathon sends roughly 4,000 runners on a point-to-point route from Saylorville Dam to downtown Des Moines. About a third of the field returns year after year, a testament to the race's enduring appeal.

The course drops south through rural Polk County, rolling along quiet country roads before funneling into the capital city's streets. The finish near Cowles Commons brings a cold beer and a lively post-race party — a reward after the long, open stretch. Runners are bused to the start, adding to the logistical ease.
