The Experience
The Hot Cider Hustle in Cedar Rapids is a fall half-marathon that pairs a flat, fast loop course with a cozy post-race celebration. With roughly 360 runners in recent years and a growing field, it’s an intimate event that draws locals and a few travelers. The course is entirely on paved roads, offering a straightforward route ideal for first-timers or runners chasing a PR.
After crossing the finish line, participants are greeted with hot apple cider, caramel apples, and a finisher mug — a welcoming touch that turns the race into a community gathering. The event has been run for five editions, and while repeat runner loyalty is modest at 7%, the friendly vibe and solid organization make it a pleasant autumn outing in Iowa.
