The Experience

Hopkinton High School’s track becomes a stage for community and purpose at the Flutie Foundation 50 Lap Relay. Teams of up to ten runners take on 50 laps—each leg a shared effort toward a 21.1-kilometer total—with every step supporting the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, which has raised over $50 million to date.

The event is free to enter, with a fundraising minimum of $100 per runner. Runners of all abilities are welcome, making this less a race and more a collective celebration. The atmosphere is low-key and heartfelt, driven by the mission rather than the clock. The track setting means flat, predictable pacing, and the relay format fosters camaraderie as teammates pass the baton.

Afterward, the sense of accomplishment is paired with the knowledge that every lap contributes to vital autism research, education, and family services. It’s a unique half-marathon experience—one measured in laps, teamwork, and impact.
