Bass Pro Shops Marathon Weekend

On the first weekend of November, Springfield, Missouri, trades its quiet Ozarks pace for the steady drumbeat of race weekend. The Bass Pro Shops Marathon Weekend brings together the Conservation Marathon, the Cohick Half Marathon, and the CMC Recycling 5K, drawing participants from all over the United States. It's a homegrown event with a national pull, the kind of race where the start line feels like a reunion and a road trip at once.

The half-marathon course is the weekend's centerpiece for many, a flat, fast route that's as much about pace as place. Springfield's streets roll out wide and welcoming, and with typical race-day weather in the mid-40s to low 60s, conditions often cooperate for quick times. The course is paved and straightforward, making it a favorite for runners chasing a personal best or simply soaking up the local support.

What keeps people coming back is the blend of small-city warmth and big-event polish. The finish line brings runners into a lively finisher's zone, and the weekend's expo and post-race festivities give the whole thing a sense of occasion. It's not a bucket-list spectacle, but a solid, well-run race that rewards the faithful with fast miles and a genuine sense of community.
