2027 The Betsy Farris Memorial Run

Now in its seventh edition, the Betsy Farris Memorial Run in Columbia, Missouri, draws around 100 runners from roughly four states, with a repeat-runner rate of about 17%. The event celebrates the legacy of Roots N Blues Festival director Betsy Farris, who mentored many in their fitness journeys. Starting at Flat Branch Park, the loop course is flat and fast—ideal for a personal best—and winds through the city’s green spaces.

The atmosphere is intimate and community-driven, with the race organized by local event and music festival partners. The course is well-supported but low-key, perfect for first-timers and experienced runners alike. The flat terrain and forgiving distances (half marathon, 10K, and 5K) make it a welcoming option for those tackling their first half or seeking a straightforward PR attempt.

Every participant receives a T-shirt, finisher medal, and a breakfast burrito plus a biscuit at the finish, courtesy of Dive Bar and Ozark Mountain Biscuit & Bar. The post-race party, part of the Biscuits, Beats, and Brews free music festival, adds a festive note to this warm, community-focused run.
