The Experience

The Yeti Endurance Weekend is carving out a loyal niche at Longview Lake in Kansas City. With recent fields averaging 454 runners from 18 states, this is a friendly, low-key event that rewards repeat participation — 13% of runners return in later years, a promising sign for a series on the rise.

The half marathon (and full marathon on the same day) hugs the lake on a flat, fast loop — perfect for chasing a PR or easing into the distance for a first-timer. The course is entirely paved, with negligible elevation gain, and early spring weather (average 39–57°F) often delivers ideal racing conditions.

Finishers earn a hooded sweatshirt and a medal, while the adjacent 5K and 10K on Saturday make this a full weekend for families or those tackling multiple distances. It’s an understated, well-supported race that’s quietly becoming a Midwest gem.
