The Experience
The Lake City Running Festival, now in its fifth year, draws about 70 runners from a dozen states to Plattsburgh, New York. The half marathon starts at the Plattsburgh City Beach and follows the Beach Bike Path along the shores of Lake Champlain. This out-and-back course is essentially flat, making it an inviting option for runners seeking a fast, low-pressure race.
The small field size and 16% repeat-runner rate give the event a genuine community feel. After crossing the finish line, runners are treated to an after-party with live music, food, beer and wine, cornhole, and raffles—open to the public for a small donation. It's a low-key, well-organized day that leaves participants feeling like locals.

Starting at the Plattsburgh City Beach, this course takes you along the gorgeous Beach Bike Path and along the shores of Lake Champlain. With a simple turn around point located on Cumberland Ave, runners will then retrace their steps back to the beach and wind through the same bike path.
