The Experience

Run Sunset Beach has become a coastal tradition since its first edition, now drawing around 585 runners from 27 states each year. The flat, fast loop—elevation near zero—winds through shaded golf communities, over a bridge spanning the intracoastal waterway, and along the island’s stunning oceanfront. It’s a PR-friendly route that showcases the best of this National Geographic-listed beach destination.

The atmosphere is relaxed and community-focused, with a loyal 16% of runners returning year after year. The highlight is the finish: the Big Ass Medal, a unique, themed medal that changes annually and never disappoints. Runners also receive a soft tri-blend shirt and enjoy typically ideal April weather, with temperatures averaging a high of 67°F and low of 59°F.

Whether you’re aiming for a personal best or simply want to earn one of those legendary medals, Run Sunset Beach delivers a genuine coastal running experience that keeps participants coming back.
