2027 Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon, 5K, and Kid's Fun Run

The Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon, now in its 14th year, invites runners into the heart of Lancaster County's Amish Country. This race is celebrated for its strong sense of community, with local residents and Amish families actively participating and supporting participants.

Runners can expect a largely paved road course that winds through picturesque farmland, offering a glimpse into a unique cultural landscape. While the course is noted for its minimal elevation change, reviewers mention some congestion at the start and suggest getting to the front if aiming for a personal best. The race has grown significantly, drawing approximately 3500 finishers from around 46 states, and boasts a loyalty rate of about 29% of runners returning for subsequent editions.

The event is highly regarded for its production, with ample aid stations, ice coolers, and enthusiastic spectator support. The coveted horseshoe finisher's medal, handcrafted by Amish artisans, is a unique reward, and the post-race atmosphere is often described as festive, with local food offerings adding to the authentic experience.
