The Experience

The Galveston Ultra Trail transforms the Texas coast into a unique running venue, eschewing typical road or trail courses for miles of runnable beachfront. Runners will experience the Gulf of Mexico at their side, with waves guiding each step and the sunrise painting the sky ahead. This point-to-point event is designed to feel more like an adventure than a traditional race.

Organized by Trail Racing Over Texas, the event emphasizes a supportive and community-driven atmosphere, welcoming both seasoned racers aiming for personal bests and beginners taking on their first 5K. Fully supported aid stations with water, electrolytes, and snacks are strategically placed along the course, ensuring a well-cared-for experience for all participants.

With distances ranging from 5K to a 50K ultra, and a focus on hard-packed sand for fast, flowing miles, the Galveston Ultra Trail provides a distinctive endurance challenge on the Texas coast.

🚌 Logistics All parking will be at East Beach and will require the purchase of a $15 venue pass per vehicle (benefits to carpooling!) directly to the venue parking system with the City of Galveston. Additional parking instructions and details will be provided closer to the event. Stay tuned for updates.

50K Ultra Runners: Will park at East Beach first thing in the morning to board the shuttle buses to the start line. Buses are for participants only, one-way only, and will not return. We will have a gear drop area at the start that will be transported back to the finish line. Alternatively, participants may be dropped off at the start line at the San Luis Pass, or leave a vehicle, but must arrange their own logistics to retrieve after the event (no shuttle provided after finishing). The trip is roughly 55 minutes.  50K Relay Teams: Each team should plan on having their own vehicle (one) to leapfrog down the course line to each exchange zone (roughly every 10km). Each exchange zone will be at a beach access point, and you should plan on driving on sand for some sections. No shuttle provided for relay teams. Final parking will be at the East Beach finish line (can be used for relay team staging before the race; keep in mind there is a parking fee per vehicle.

Don't be late for the start! The shuttle schedule and timeline will be updated closer to the event. Plan for a one-hour ride from the finish line parking to the start area, bring hydration/fueling for the drive, and warm-up clothes are recommended. We will have porta-cans at the start-line and gear drop for warm-up gear to be moved back to the finish. Shuttles do not return. 🌟 You Belong Here Whether you're chasing your first ultra, racing with friends, or just out to experience something new— You’re in the right place. 🌊 READY TO RUN THE COAST?
