RUN THE ALAMO / 2027

Now in its 15th edition, Run the Alamo has become a fixture on the Texas racing calendar, drawing ~3,680 finishers from 44 states. About 20% of runners return year after year, lured by a flat, USATF-certified course that’s prime for a PR. The start downtown near the Alamo sends you over a brief stretch of cobblestone—enough to wake up your feet—before opening onto paved roads and the shaded Mission trail, a serene park path that offers a glimpse of San Antonio’s colonial past.

The course is genuinely flat, with only gentle inclines that barely qualify as hills. Runners weave through loops and out-and-back segments, passing other racers and keeping the energy up. Post-race, finishers collect a large medal, a quarter-zip, and a can of Alamo beer, while the finish-line spread earns high marks. Though the expo is small and parking downtown can be tricky, the overall production is smooth. With perfect race-day weather (mid-50s to high-70s, little rain) and a fast, well-supported route, this half is a worthy destination for anyone chasing a PB or a Texas adventure.
