The Experience

The Run the Line Half Marathon provides a distinctive dual-state experience, traversing both Texas and Arkansas on a single, certified loop. Starting in downtown Texarkana, Texas, the course quickly ventures into Arkansas before returning to Texas, ultimately finishing in Texarkana, Arkansas. This event, now in its 17th year, typically sees around 700 finishers, with a strong loyalty rate of about 44% of runners returning year after year.

The 10-foot wide asphalt trails and city streets offer a fast, flat path, making it a prime location for setting personal bests. Runners often hail from approximately 14 states, drawn by the unique opportunity to run a certified course that straddles the state line. The finish line is set for a festive atmosphere in downtown Texarkana, Arkansas, capping off a race known for its efficiency and the chance to conquer two states in one go.

Race-provided description

The Run the Line Half Marathon is a unique opportunity to run in one half marathon in Texas and Arkansas on a USATF certified single-loop course.  The race starts at W. Broad Street and Texas Blvd in downtown Texarkana, Texas, quickly moves into Arkansas, crosses back into Texas, and finishes in Texarkana, Arkansas. The course includes 10-ft wide asphalt trails that wind through residential neighborhoods on city streets. The finish line is downtown at 3rd and Wood Streets in front of the Hopkins Ice House about 5 blocks from the start.   We are a Road Runner Club of America event member. We have also applied to be a qualifying race again in the 2025 Natural State Running Series. The races and registration are available at www.naturalstateruns.com.  A portion of the course is on the Texas/Arkansas State Line. The 2026 course is USATF certified (AR19015WJT). The race includes chip timing, runners, walkers, and 2-person and 4-person relay teams.
