Too Hot To Handle Half

Now in its 31st year, the Too Hot To Handle Half Marathon & 10K/5K is a true Dallas summer institution. Despite the Texas heat—averaging 70–89°F—the race draws about 500 runners from 22 states, a growing field that returns for the flat, fast USATF-certified course around White Rock Lake. The lake provides a scenic backdrop, while organizers combat the temperatures with ice-cold towels, cooling zones, and ample hydration.

The course lives up to its billing: flat, fast, and well-supported with pace groups, gels, and restrooms. Runners can focus on a PR or simply enjoy the beautiful lake views. With a typical winning time around 1:19, the field is competitive but welcoming.

The real payoff comes after the finish line: a free beer garden, hot eats, and live music from DJ Dame. Every runner takes home a custom finisher medal and a tech tank. It's a well-oiled production that turns a hot run into a party—proving that some traditions are worth sweating for.
