The Experience

The Great Olympic Adventure Trail Run (GOAT Run) is a point-to-point half marathon that winds from Kelly Ridge to the shores of Lake Crescent in Washington's Olympic National Park. The course is mostly single-track Adventure Trail, with some unpaved forest road and less than a mile of pavement, gaining 1,500 feet over roughly 14 miles. It's a difficult, rewarding route that ends at a deep, glacially carved lake famous for its brilliant turquoise water.

With around 180 finishers from about 10 states, the event feels intimate and community-driven. About 5% of runners return each year. The race is well-organized, with a free shuttle to the start, well-marked trails, chip timing, and aid stations stocked with snacks. The finish-line after-party at Log Cabin Resort features heavy snacks, water, and a beer/cider garden—perfect for celebrating a tough, scenic effort.
