2027 CARNIVAL FROLIC 13.1 AND 5K 2026

In Decatur, Alabama, the Carnival Frolic 13.1 and 5K is more than a race—it's a Mardi Gras celebration. Held as part of the Carnegie Carnival, this small but spirited event draws around 152 runners from 11 states, with about 30% returning each year. Now in its 10th edition, the race benefits the Carnegie Visual Arts Center, adding a layer of community purpose to the festivities.

The USATF-certified course runs through Decatur’s historic districts, skirts the Tennessee River, and winds through Point Mallard Park. With virtually no elevation gain, it’s a flat, fast route that invites personal bests. The race starts early, then finishes back at the carnival, where runners are greeted with beignets, red beans and rice, and a free mimosa or cold beer. The atmosphere is festive and low-key—a true local affair.
