The Experience

The Auburn Half Marathon, first run in 2005 and now in its seventh edition, winds through California's historic Gold Country. This race is known for its fast, flat course, making it a prime location for runners aiming for personal bests.

The ~142 finishers on average navigate a course designed for speed. With minimal elevation changes and a straightforward path, it’s an ideal setting for chasing a PR. The event also includes 10K and 5K distances, welcoming a range of runners.

While the field size has trended smaller in recent years, with about 106 finishers and participants typically hailing from around three states, the Auburn Half Marathon maintains a dedicated following. The typical winning time around 1:06:48 indicates a competitive edge for those at the front.

Race-provided description

Just off Highway 80 in Gold Country, you will find the historic town of Auburn, California.  Auburn's historic Old Town and Downtown districts are full of museums, art galleries and plenty of breweries, restaurants and more for dining and shopping. And thanks to its abundance of trails (including the world famous Western States Trail) it is also known as the Endurance Capital of the World™! A half marathon, 12K and 5K will take runners from the Auburn Overlook park, into Auburn State Recreation Area. All runners will receive custom finisher medals and t-shirts. All races will be professionally timed with electronic chip timing. Hikers/walkers are welcome.
