The Experience
The Jurassic Jaunt transforms Alamitos Beach into a prehistoric playground, inviting runners to unleash their inner T-Rex. This event, with its 5K, 10K, 10-miler, and half marathon distances, offers a unique theme for participants.
The courses are primarily out-and-back along the beach path, meaning runners will share the route with other beachgoers and cyclists. The half marathon utilizes a combination of the 5-mile and 5K routes, run twice and once respectively. With a course closure time of 3 hours and 20 minutes, it accommodates a range of paces.
Race day kicks off with the half marathon and 10-miler starting at 7:00 AM, followed by the 5K and 10K at 7:30 AM. While parking is available at Alamitos Beach for a fee, free street parking is also an option. For those seeking an early start, an email request can be accommodated, though early starters are ineligible for awards. The event has seen a median of approximately 58 finishers in recent editions, drawing participants from around 9 states.
