The Experience

Fort Collins's original trail marathon and half marathon winds through the scenic hogbacks of Northern Colorado's Front Range. The course navigates between Horsetooth Mountain Park and Devil's Backbone Open Space, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience for both seasoned trail runners and newcomers.

The marathon features a substantial 3,500 feet of elevation gain and loss, while the half marathon presents 1,800 feet of climbing. Runners will traverse 100% dirt, with 90% of the route consisting of Colorado singletrack. The terrain varies from smooth dirt paths to technical rock gardens, with brief sections on dirt roads and gravel bike paths, all set against the backdrop of the distinctive redstone hardpack of the Blue Sky Trail.

With a generous nine-hour cut-off, the event is designed to be accessible. Participants can expect to see local wildlife like deer and golden eagles. Post-race, enjoy a popular barbecue and sponsor giveaways, making for a complete trail running celebration.
