New this year! We are USAT certified! See below for more details. RACE DATE/TIME: Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 7:00 am; Surf Club, Madison Town Beach, Surf Club Rd, Madison, CT. No rain date. In case of inclement weather, the Race Director reserves the right to modify the course (including shortening the course, hold a duathlon, or a 10K run) or cancel the race. RACE COURSE: Half mile swim in the Long Island Sound (wetsuits allowed), 13 mile bike through the scenic back roads of Madison, 3 mile run along the beautiful Madison shore. ENTRY FEES: The Race Director reserves the right to accept or reject any entry. Field is limited to 500 participants, a combination of individual and team entries, and historically sells out well in advance.There is nothing worse than being turned away on race morning, so we encourage you to secure a spot by pre-registering. No refunds or exchanges of registrations are allowed. New this year: USAT membership is required. A one day USAT membership is available to purchase during registration. RACE CATEGORIES AND PRICES: INDIVIDUALS $100 ($125.00 after August 1, 2026) PARATHLETE DIVISIONS $100 ($125.00 after August 1, 2026) RELAY TEAMS (2-3 racers) $150 per team ($200.00 after August 1, 2026) AQUABIKE $100 ($125.00 after August 1, 2026)
Youth "TRY": Children age 11-16 are encouraged to "try a tri" with an adult in this shortened course! Entry includes 2 team members--a child age 11-16 and an adult age 18 or over. The swim course is shortened to approx. 500 yards, all other distances remain the same (13 mile bike, 3 mile run). $110 per team ($135 after August 1, 2026) PRIZES AND AGE GROUPS: OVERALL TRI FINISHERS: The first male and first female overall will each receive $200 in prize money, the second male and second female overall will each receive $150 in prize money, the third male and third female overall will each receive $100 in prize money. The Race Director's decision is final. INDIVIDUAL RACE DIVISIONS AND AWARDS: Non-cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. Ages 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+. All parathletes will receive a non-cash prize. RELAY TEAM COMPETITION: All Male, All Female and Mixed Teams – Non-cash prizes to each member of the top finishing team in each division. KIDS "TRY" COMPETITION: Non-cash prizes given to top three male and female youth competitors in age brackets 11-13 and 14-16. AQUABIKE COMPETITION: Non-cash prizes given to the top three competitors. PACKET PICK-UP: Advanced packet pick-up will be held on Friday, September 11 at Lenny and Joe's in Madison from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Participants can also pick up their race packet and timing chip on race day at the Surf Club starting at 5:30 am. DIRECTIONS: I-95 to Exit 61 (Rte. 79). Turn south onto Rte. 79. Proceed to 3rd traffic light at intersection of Rte. 1. Turn right onto Rte. 1 and proceed for approximately ½ mile. Turn left onto West Wharf Road (Madison Country Club is on the corner). Proceed to next stop sign and turn right onto Surf Club Road. WAIVER: In consideration of accepting this entry, I/we the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, hereby, for myself and my heirs, executors and administrators waive and release any and all claims for damages I may have against the Madison Jaycees, Town of Madison, race organizers, volunteers and any other sponsors for all claims arising or growing out of my participation in said athletic event. I attest and certify that I have full knowledge of the risks involved in competing in this event and that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained for participation in this event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person. I understand that I assume all of the risks of participation in this event including, but limited to, risks relating to course conditions and weather. I hereby grant the Madison Jaycees permission to use my likeness in a photograph in any and all of its publications, including website entries, without payment or any other consideration. I hereby irrevocably authorize the Madison Jaycees to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish or distribute this photo for purposes of publicizing the Dave Parcells Madison Triathlon or for any other lawful purpose. In addition, I waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written or electronic copy, wherein my likeness appears. Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of the photograph. The Dave Parcells Madison Triathlon is now a USAT Sanctioned Event. The Competitive Rules are intended to provide for the orderly and consistent administration of events sanctioned by USA Triathlon and are not designed to establish standards of care for the safety of participants or other persons. Every participant, official, volunteer and spectator should consider all safety issues and make related decisions prudently without reliance upon the Competitive Rules. USA Triathlon makes no express or implied warranty, guarantee, or representation regarding the degree of safety, which may or may not result from compliance with the Competitive Rules. Examinations or inspections of equipment at sanctioned events are undertaken solely to monitor compliance with the Competitive Rules and do not guarantee or ensure safety from personal injury or property damage. The safety of race equipment is the sole responsibility of each and every participant. Helmets: Only helmets approved by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) may be used in USAT sanctioned events. Helmets must be worn at all times while on your bike. This means before, during, and after the event. Penalty: Disqualification 2. Chin Straps: Chin straps must be buckled at all times when on a bicycle. DO NOT unbuckle your chin strap unless you are off your bicycle. Penalty: Disqualification on the course; Variable time penalty in transition area only. 3. Outside Assistance: No assistance other than that offered by race and medical officials may be used. Triathlons and duathlons are individual tests of fitness. Penalty: Variable time penalty 4. Transition Area: All equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned bike corral. The wheel of the bicycle must be down on the side of the assigned space. All participants must return their bicycles to an upright position in their designated bicycle corral. No person shall interfere with another participant’s equipment or impede the progress of another participant. All bar ends must be solidly plugged. No participant shall bring ANY glass containers into the transition area. Penalty: Variable time penalty 5. Drafting: Drafting--keep at least three bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front. If you move into the zone, you must pass within 15 seconds. Position--keep to the right hand side of the lane of travel unless passing. Blocking--riding on the left side of the lane without passing anyone and interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass. Overtaken--once passed, you must immediately exit the draft zone from the rear, before attempting to pass again. Penalty: Variable time penalty 6. Course: All competitors are required to follow the prescribed course and to stay within all coned lanes. Cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue. Cyclists shall not cross a solid yellow center line for ANY reason. Cyclists must obey all applicable traffic laws at all times. Penalty: Referee's discretion 7. Unsportsmanlike-Like Conduct: Foul, harsh, argumentative or abusive language or other unsportsmanlike conduct directed at race officials, USA Triathlon officials, volunteers, spectators or fellow athletes is forbidden. Penalty: Disqualification 8. Headphones: Headphones, headsets, walkmans, ipods, mp3 players, or personal audio devices, etc. are not to be carried or worn at any time during the race. Penalty: Variable time penalty 9. Race numbers: All athletes are required to wear race numbers at all times during the run. Numbers must face the front and be clearly visible at all times. Numbers may not be cut or folded or altered in any way. DO NOT transfer your number to any other athlete or take a number from an athlete that is not competing. Penalty: Variable time penalty for missing or altered number, Disqualification and one year suspension from membership in USAT for transferring a number without race director permission. 10. Wetsuits: Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wetsuit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wetsuit at their own discretion, provided, however that participants who wears a wetsuit within such temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Above 84 degrees, wetsuits are prohibited. 11. Abandonment: All personal equipment and belongings taken out onto the course must stay on the athlete the entire time. No garbage, clothing, etc. shall be thrown on the course.
