This is a no-frills affair: low entry fee, basic aid stations, and not a finisher medal in sight. What you get instead is a pure trail-running experience on singletrack through the scenic Indiana woodlands.
The event keeps it simple. Runners can opt to purchase a T-shirt featuring each year's unique logo, created by a local art student, with half the proceeds supporting the school's art program. The vibe is low-key and community-driven, focused on the joy of moving through nature. At the finish, there's no fanfare — just the quiet satisfaction of a well-run trail half and the knowledge you've supported a good cause.

**Permits Pending** Well, one of our local beloved trail races of over 20 plus years has been laid to rest but it's time to pick up the torch and replace it with another. All the same distances, on the same trails, and in our beloved Morgan Monroe State Forest. Behold......Run With The Squirrels (RWTS) ....Sunday April 25, 2026 (This is in no way sanctioned, presented, hosted, or affiliated, in any way with Hoosier Hikers Council) Distances of 5k, 10k, 10 mile and half marathon. It will be very similar in the fact it is low cost and low frills. No finisher medals, just the satisfaction that you did something amazing out in mother nature...WooHoo! There will be basic aid stations for the 10k, 10 miler, and 13.1 mile events. Race fee does not include a T shirt. This has been a request by numerous runners to decrease on waste. This year’s race logo will be created by a Bloomington North art student. The hope is that each year’s Run With The Squirrels will have a new logo, so you can collect each unique one.
This is where you help. Woohoo Trail Fun LLC will donate 50% of the proceeds from all shirt sales to the art program that helps design that years logo.
If you would like to purchase one you have the option to make it an add-on for $15. You must add the shirt before APRIL 4th. There might be limited quantities on hand on race day. These will be printed by our local T-shirt guru BadKnees Tees. Come join us and lets have some trail fun...WooHoo!
