The Experience

Set in the scenic waterfront towns of Havre de Grace and Perryville, Maryland, the Susquehanna River Running Festival offers a half marathon, 10K, and 5K that showcase the beauty of the Susquehanna River. The course’s highlight is the rare opportunity to run across the Hatem Bridge, a normally car-only span that provides stunning views of the river and Chesapeake Bay. The route is mostly paved and rolling, with the bridge offering a gentle climb and rewarding downhill.

Race day is a celebration of local community and hospitality, with a growing field of about 622 finishers (2025) from 23 states and a loyal 19% repeat-runner rate. First run in 2018, the festival has quickly become a favorite for its great SWAG, scenic route, and welcoming atmosphere. The post-race festivities and riverfront setting make for a memorable finish, while runners appreciate the efficient organization by Charm City Run Events and the partnership with the Al Cesky Scholarship Fund.
