The Experience
The Eugene Marathon, first run in 2006 and now in its 19th edition, is a fixture for runners seeking a fast, certified course. With a median field size of around 6,117 finishers, it draws participants from across the nation, though recent editions have seen a slight decrease in numbers.
This race is renowned for its flat and fast profile, making it a prime candidate for personal bests and Boston Marathon qualifying attempts. The course winds through Eugene, a city deeply ingrained in running culture, offering a supportive atmosphere for athletes aiming for speed.
While the field size has fluctuated, a loyal contingent of about 21% of runners return year after year, testament to the race's enduring appeal. The event culminates in a festive finish festival, celebrating the achievements of all participants.
