The Experience
First run in 2022, the Mother's Day Run for the Roses has quickly become a cherished small-town tradition. Set on the flat, paved Ironton Rail Trail in Coplay, PA, the course winds through wooded sections and along the Lehigh River, offering a serene backdrop for a spring race. With about 109 finishers in recent years, the event maintains an intimate, community feel—nearly one in ten runners return each year, a testament to its welcoming spirit.
The race lives up to its name: every woman runner receives a fresh rose at the finish, alongside a commemorative plaque for first-time half marathoners. After crossing the line, runners gather for food and drink under the inflatable finish arch, celebrating Mother's Day with family. The fast, flat course is ideal for beginners and those chasing a new personal best, while the warm, supportive atmosphere makes it a hidden gem in the Lehigh Valley.
