The PA Trail Dogs is a volunteer group organized and led by Craig Fleming. The group began building and maintaining trails back in 2006 in Sproul State Forest under the guidance of PA DCNR and The Nature Conservancy. The rehab of existing historical CCC trails and the need to design and build newer, more sustainable trails in the Hyner area led to the idea of the Hyner Trail Challenge and its first running in 2007. This event has become one of the staple trail races in the east with over 1,000 runners participating every April.
