The Experience
Starting at Easton's Beach, the Newport Rhode Races half-marathon winds through the historic City-by-the-Sea during spring's peak. The flat, USATF-certified course passes over 1.2 million blooming daffodils as part of the Newport Daffodil Days Festival, creating a vibrant, fragrant corridor along the oceanfront. With typical race-day temperatures in the mid-40s to low 50s, conditions are ideal for a fast, scenic run.
The field has grown to roughly 3,100 finishers from about 45 states, and about 14% return each year—a testament to the race's welcoming vibe and top-notch organization. The half-marathon starts at 8:00 a.m., an hour after the marathon, and shares much of the same flat, road-course terrain. The absence of significant elevation gain makes this a prime PR course, and the marathon's Boston Qualifier status underscores the route's speed-friendly design.
Finishers receive a commemorative T-shirt, and the post-race atmosphere buzzes with runners celebrating by the sea. The partnership with the Daffodil Days Festival adds a unique springtime charm, making this more than just a race—it's a seasonal celebration in one of New England's most picturesque coastal towns.
