The Experience
The Hobbler Half Marathon, first run in 2010 and now in its 14th edition, offers a unique summer running experience in Springville, UT. Runners are bussed to the start line high in Hobble Creek Canyon, setting the stage for a predominantly downhill course that winds through scenic landscapes.
The course transitions from road to a paved trail, following Hobble Creek and passing beautiful ranches. While described as mostly downhill, some reviews mention a few rolling hills. The scenery is a highlight, with many runners praising the beautiful mountain views. However, production quality has received mixed reviews, with some participants noting a lack of mile markers and issues with finisher medals.
With a median field size of around 312 finishers and a growing trend, the Hobbler Half is a smaller, more intimate event. The race aims to provide a rewarding finish at Spring Acres Arts Park, though the overall experience can vary, with some runners finding it a charming local event and others pointing to organizational shortcomings.
