The Experience
Now in its seventh year, the Redmond Reindeer Romp attracts a median field of about 158 runners—a small, loyal crowd that braves the Pacific Northwest winter. The trail half-marathon features minimal elevation change, often yielding fast finish times: the typical winning time is under 1:30. Despite the cold and damp conditions (average 35–45°F), the race offers a warm, community-driven atmosphere.
Part of the Winter Trail Series, the race winds through wooded trails, with a 5-mile option for those seeking a shorter distance. The course is a trail run with little climbing, making it a gentle introduction to winter trail running. The finish line brings runners together for post-race camaraderie, though the event remains a low-key affair.
For runners looking to earn a half-marathon finisher medal in a festive, wintry setting, the Redmond Reindeer Romp is a delightful local gem. It’s a perfect choice for those who enjoy the solitude of winter trails and a no-frills race experience.
