2027 Gristmill Grinder Half Marathon

The Gristmill Grinder half marathon takes its name from the landmark gristmill at Babcock State Park, West Virginia, and the course winds through the park's trails on terrain that demands respect. With a median field of around 120 finishers and a recent field near 100, this is a race where you'll know your neighbors on the start line — and about a quarter of them come back in later years, drawn by the challenge and the setting.

Runners travel from roughly a dozen states to take on the half, which shares the day with a 5K fun run open to walkers and runners of all ages. The trails are scenic but challenging, with aid stations to keep you moving. Winning times around 1:42 reflect a course that rewards grit over pure speed.
